| After a long and illustrious career, the artist is drawn back to the place that fits around him most completely and speaks most eloquently: North Wales. Here, the landscape and the weather become a spur to memory, and an amplifier of feelings. A place where ideas can be teased out, elaborated and taken toward new, unfamiliar conclusions.
Maurice has the restless air of someone always seeking to catch the moment of connection between the individual and his surroundings – the place and the moment where one becomes a map of the other, yielding a glimpse of something bright and true and immutable.
We are delighted to be exhibiting his latest solo show Too Late for Flowers at Ffin y Parc.
Ar ol gyrfa hir a disglair, mae’r artist yn cael ei dynnu’n ol i’r ardal sy’n ffitio i’r dim ac sy’n siarad iddo’n huawdl: Gogledd Cymru. Yma, mae’r tirwedd a’r tywydd yn sbarduno’r cof, ac yn dwysau’r teimladau. Dyma rhywle lle caiff syniadau eu datgelu, eu ymhelaethu, a’u datblygu tuag at canlyniadau newydd ac annisgwyl.
Mae Maurice yn un sydd byth yn llonydd, wastad yn ceisio dal y foment o gysylltiad rhwng yr unigolyn a’i amgylchedd – y man a’r foment lle mae un yn dod yn fap o’r llall, gan ddatgelu i ni cipolwg o rhywbeth disglair, triw a dianwadal.
Mae’n bleser cael arddangos ei sioe unigol diweddara Rhy Hwyr am Flodau yn Ffin y Parc
